Hijacker AKA Laggy “Tron” Pantelli since the early 90’s has been a producer, live musician and technical wizard. Better know in this period as Megalon the duo that involved Zeno Messis. Underground Science led Hijacker onto more experimental work in the studio spanning across four sub labels under Plink Plonk
XP-88 is the name of a control drug use covertly for mind control. These experimental drugs were developed by Albert Hoffman’s unit at Sandoz labs under the CIA for enhancing super powers of operative assassins .
XP-88 original produced by Hijacker kicks off with a techno military style assault on the mind. The kick and grainy funk baseline riff work us through a journey of spacious pads stabs and a pulsating acid line that gives a sense of controlled movement towards a target.
Eugene Black’s remix is a quirky techno-acid remix an a approach which, continues the original mix with an oncoming sense of depth with sub bass drops pads and stabs and a darker determination to enhance fight or flight “ Watch Out!”.
Hijackers’s remix is a more abstract and industrial working at the core on a minimal and deep level, driven by a gurgling baseline and filtered pad stabs and high frequency sequences.
Kumo remix is combination of cleverly crafted rhythmic patterns, broken beat and long drawn out pad drones, layers and twisted sounds that sets us in some kind of feudal ninja assault that builds over the duration of the track.
G-Prod is an electro styled melancholia work out, in keeping with a sense of aftermath drifting on a tide of luscious pads and strings over tight sub beats and funky baselines setting course on the lines of a soundtrack.
Laggy Panteli AKA Hijacker an escapologist who studied ways in and out of Clink St Prison via the drainpipe system. He is also one half of Megalon from the seminal Plink Plonk label, who has been involved in music since the mid eighties. He started his career as a Dj, working the underground party scene in and around London and hosted two shows on pirate radio Dance FM. He soon got involved in music production working under these two monikers for Plink Plonk Records from 1992 -1998; Megalon was formed prior to the inception of the label and by the time Plink Plonk was underway both Zeno Messis and Laggy Panteli had forged some very unique sounding material; a blend of specialised electronica and techno that was to become a major component in the success of Plink Plonk from both a live and recording aspect. Plink Plonk regular launch parties, “The Drop” would have Hijacker both Djing and performing live with Megalon.
The name Hijacker was founded by a production colleague who formed Underground Science as a workshop for existing producers and engineers at the label. Hijacker’s love for computer sequencing earned him this name because he would take over this area of the studio and not let anyone near the proximity of the qwewty, swinging side to side if anyone tried to edge their way in. Underground science was a dog eat dog studio situation with everyone competing for control, yet there remained a mutual respect for each others roles. Hijacker truly sharpened his teeth for the experimental with Underground Science. He gained reputation rapidly and was given some exclusive solo projects on the Autoi label a sub label of Plink Plonk exploring predominantly the techno aspects of the Drum AND Bass genre, extending his technical skills as both engineer and producer.
Other collaborations include a unique project entitled MASP I.F + iNSYNC (Lee Purkis), for Plink Plonk. He then went on to Spectra, High Science, RiZe, with other labels including; R&S Records, Warp, Tech Itch Recordings, Bombis and more recently with LA based label Superfreq Records and London’s up and coming force Stark Futures Recordings amongst others. The London based producer and Dj has experienced major highs and kudos for his work, both as a collaborator, remixer and as a solo artist.
